The 2013 OceanicPerformance Biennial Isle& was held in the Wynyard Quarter, in Auckland.The event explored Oceanic ocean-island ecologies as relational networks – performances and installations were sited throughout the Wynyard Quarter landscape and into the ocean. HEAT: Solar Revolutions is an art event that asks how the sun’s energy can catalyse climate-friendly activations, installations and conversations. HEAT is a partnership between the Oceanic Performance Biennial 2017 (OPB) and Te Uru. OPB engages multiple publics in critiques and re-imaginings of the cultural, social, political and environmental ecologies of this region: performance operates as a multi-modal tool that attracts, connects and communicates in playful or affective ways and publicly foregrounds ecological issues. The Biennial program incorporates free public performance events, workshops and gatherings that bring together performance practitioners, ecological activists and academics to around regenerative Oceanic ecologies. The 2015 Oceanic Performance Biennial: Sea-Change focused on the sea as a performative site and complex changing ecology. Sea-Change, in Rarotonga, brought together local communities, artists and climate change scientists with international academics and artists: elders from outer islands discussed change with professors from, for example, New York University and leading international performance artists in workshops or as part of performance walks or event. The event was co-funded by the Cook Islands Government and Tourism Board and local communities contributed and attended the 3 days of performances, installations, films and events. Island Curator Ani O’Neill and Event Curator Dorita Hannah worked intensively with local communities to found the event on a deep and culturally specific engagement with and dramaturgy around place (see review Performance Research journal ). Åhua o te Rangi (Weather) NZPQ15 is Aotearoa New Zealand's national exhibit for the 2015 PRAGUE QUADRENNIAL (PQ). PQ is the leading event of its kind, with some 180,000 visitors for PG15. NewZealand’s rich national installation and collection of performances engaged with Åhua o te Rangi Weather as a transforming and potentially transformative system in this era of climate chaos. Work ranged widely from new media film installations, to embodied performance, to scenography, to landscape dance events that led participants through the narrow streets and across the bridges of Prague.
